GRS GRS is the market leader in vehicle remarketing in the UK. They provide independent dealers with quality low mileage new and nearly new vehicles representing all major marques, such as Vauxhall, Ford, Renault and Volkswagen. By providing a constant source of quality vehicles and making them more accessible to the dealerships, GRS are taking vehicle remarketing to a new level. Extensive use of ICT has gained GRS the enviable reputation of providing the highest levels of customer service in the industry. The business has grown in parallel to their reputation, delivering substantial year on year growth. As business volumes increase so data network traffic increased, and this led to a significant increase in network performance issues. Structured Cabling Services were invited to review the infrastructure and make recommendations to resolve the difficulties. A complete performance test of the cabling was the first step to solving the problems encountered by GRS. The audit and test highlighted a number of failures within the existing cable plant. With the failures corrected, the next step was to review the existing network hubs and switches to improve response times and provide greater resilience in the event of a failure. Nortel 450 switches now form the heart of the GRS LAN. Through the use of several software features within the switch performance bottle necks are eliminated and should a unit fail GRS will continue to operate with out any loss of service.
